Day 20 Yosemite

Limited wifi so a short blog today [updated since].

We drove for nearly an hour from our accommodation early yesterday morning on the edge of Yosemite, right to the centre of the National Park.  The Ranger here on site suggested leaving by 8am to get a reasonable parking space. It was quite quiet when we arrived at 9 but leaving at 3pm it was clear how right he had been. I’ve never seen so many cars parked on any spare spot of ground that wasn’t actually the road. That said, even for a Saturday, so vast is the National Park that there were times we were walking and the was no-one in sight which was lovely.

We did two walks to see the Yosemite Falls

and Mirror Lake that we all paddled in.

That was a welcome break from what was a really hot day; tempretures in the mid 90s and we walked about 7 miles in total followed by an hour drive back home.

We also saw the famous El Capitan rock face which is a sheer vertical slab of granite that just rises from the ground and didn’t want to stop!

Yosemite has been majestic and different again from our other stops.

We leave here this morning for quite a long drive to the West coast to start the last leg of our trip; the less strenuous part if the planning was correct!

  1. Your photos get better and better, what stunning photos, almost feel as I’m there with you. Have a safe journey. Love to you all👍👍😎😎😎

  2. Our visit to Yosemite in 1987 was special. Seeing your photos brings back lovely memories – climbing to ‘Top of the World’ (not sure if this was our description but it was high) with Bob on crutches.
